After campfire all Scouts should brush their teeth and wash their faces. There is nothing more attractive to bugs and ants that a sticky s’mores face overnight!
Never bring food into your tent. Crumbs and odors last and attract everything from bugs to bears!
A good sleeping pad will keep you warm overnight. Air mattresses and cots bring cold air to your underside where the sleeping bag is compressed. A quality foam pad provides insulation. Feet still cold? Wear a knit / stocking hat!
Put tomorrow’s clothing in your sleeping bag overnight so it is warm when dressing. Early morning is the coldest time so put on a hoodie or hat and gloves.
Rewash mess kit, utensils, coolers and cooking gear after returning home before storing. We can get them reasonably clean in camp with warm soap wash, warm rinse and bleach finish.
