In Cub Scouting you’ll have lots of fun, adventure, and activities with your den and pack. But there’s more to it than that. Being a Cub Scout means you are a member of a worldwide youth movement that stands for certain values and beliefs. Cub Scouting is more than something to do. It’s all about the person you are and the person you will become.
Since 1930, Scouting America (formerly known as Boy Scouts of America) has helped younger boys. Now girls can benefit from the Cub Scout program too. It is a year-round family program designed for boys and girls who are in Kindergarten through fifth grade (or 5-10 years of age). Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting. Currently, Cub Scouting is the largest of the Scouting America’s three membership divisions. (The others are Scouts, BSA and Venturing.)
The mission of Scouts, BSA is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
There are four aims of Scouting:
- Character development
- Citizenship training
- Physical and mental fitness
- Leadership development
The methods of Cub Scouting are: living the ideals, belonging to a den, advancement, family involvement, activities, serving the community, and the uniform.
Pack 369 is chartered with South Main Baptist Church in Pasadena, Texas. Our Pack meetings are regularly held on the last Monday evening of each month from 6:30-7:30pm. Den meetings are held Monday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm. Strong, positive relationships with our charter organization and feeder elementary schools (Genoa, Jensen, Teague, Turner, and Young) allows Pack 369 to provide one of the greatest Cub Scout experiences around. Pack 369 is part of the San Jacinto District in the Sam Houston Area Council.
