All About Our Garden

A Garden Learning Lab

In a time when the world around us may seem unfamiliar and overwhealming, the school garden offers a place that reminds us about the best parts of humanity. Children in our garden connect with their senses, nature, and eachother. We work hard to bring our school community together through garden celebrations, community work days, food distribution to families, distance education, and garden newsletters. We are flexible and fun, appealing to the need in each of us to connect with and enjoy the natural world around us.

Our school garden offers small group instruction, half a class at a time, so each student gets to dive deep into edible education. We host a Junior High elective course where older students can spend an hour each week working in and learning about the garden. We explore social justice, food systems, science, math, cultural connections, art and more through the lense of the school garden. We believe that it is in the small moments, with their hands in the dirt feeling a wiggling worm or digging for carrots, that we watch true social change in action.
