The new shopping mall in Dwarka

Even though Dwarka is a big sub-city in New Delhi, the region took a long while to establish a proper shopping mall. There were many already-built mall structures in different sectors of the area but none were functioning shopping destinations. A few of these non-functioning malls had one-two dining outlets and rented or leased out offices but no apparel stores or any merchandise stores. I remember going to these malls to buy sweets for Diwali at the sweet store and to eat burgers at McDonald’s with my college friend.

It took years of waiting to see a proper Shopping Mall in Dwarka. Last year, a mall opened in Dwarka Sector 21, in the same building as the sector’s metro station. This mall has all sorts of apparel stores, accessories stores, a proper food court and a game zone for children. For the first time, residents had the option of visiting a nice authentic mall here. Of course, the mall has become a popular destination and receives a good footfall, especially on the weekends.

The mall has a Home Center store which is becoming pretty popular amongst the residents. My mother bought a few cushions from there just yesterday. Now my parents want to visit the store tomorrow to buy some decorative items for the living room. I am thinking of tagging along, maybe they will let me buy a few indoor plants for my room.

My neighbour bought a beautiful crockery set from the store this Diwali. He invited my mother and me to take a look. It was amusing to see him be so proud of his purchase. The crockery set was beautiful, no doubt. It had a mesmerizing abstract design with splashes of light green on the side.

I am glad we have a good shopping mall in Dwarka now. Life has become more convenient for all of us.
