I went to Pacific Mall in Dehradun last week. It is the only mall with a proper Food court in Dehradun right now. There were over sixteen food & beverage brands available to choose from and my sister and I decided to opt for Keventers and Subway, keeping our appetite, food preferences and limited budget in mind.

We ordered a Paneer Tikka sub, a Hara Bhara Kebab sub, a Chocolate Oreo chocolate shake and a Cool Custard Apple fruit blast shake. My annoying sister took more than twenty minutes to decide her sub and shake while I knew what I wanted the moment we decided to eat and drink from the two outlets. She took even longer to decide the sauces and vegetables she wanted in her sub sandwich. By the end of it, I was frustrated and starving but the Subway employee remained calm and gave her ample time to decide. But I came close to losing my cool when she asked the employee to use untoasted bread after taking five minutes to decide and announce that she wanted toasted bread! I kept yelling “What the hell is wrong with you?!” in my mind.

In that moment, I wanted to call my parents and ask them why they made her accompany me to the mall but then I remembered that it was I who tagged along with her. I took a deep breath, let out a silent sigh and accepted my fate.

It took us an hour to finally sit down with our orders, only because I ordered her a shake without consulting with her. She was not happy about this but stopped pouting after taking a sip. I could see that she loved what I had ordered but her ego was too big to tell me that. I smiled as she kept taking a sip and kept becoming less upset.
