Biography

Dr. de la Barrera was born in Río Cuarto, Córdoba, Argentina in 1978. He received the Electrical Engineering degree in 2003 and the M.S. degree in 2006, both from Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto (UNRC), and the Ph.D. degree in Control Systems from the Universidad Nacional del Sur, in 2009.

Currently Dr. de la Barrera is Teaching Assistant in the School of Engineering of UNRC. He is involved in the following courses: Electromagnetism, Electric Circuit Analysis, Electric Drives and Modelling and Simulation of Electric Machines and Control Systems. From 2015, he is Adjoint researcher from the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) of Argentina.

He has been an invited researcher in the Institute for Power Electronics and Control of Drives of Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany during 2009. As well as in the Institute of Electric Power Systems of Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, Germany during Aug.-Oct. 2013, Jun.-Jul. 2014, Nov.-Dec. 2016, Jan.-Feb. 2018, Dec. 2018 – Feb. 2019 and Aug. 2021.

Dr. de la Barrera was the Secretary of the Argentina Section Joint Chapter within the IEEE (IE13/CS23/RA24/IA34/PEL35/VT06) from 2012 to 2016. Vice-Chair and Chair of the Joint Chapter during 2017 and 2018, respectively. He is Senior member of the IEEE since Dec. 20015.

His research interests include modelling, control and fault diagnosis on electric machines, ac motor drives, electric vehicles, and renewable energy generation.
