In memory of the Public Administration Department's cofounder, Dr. James T. Jones Professor Emeritus, Donations will be utilized for Clark Atlanta University MPA student scholarships (90%) and for Public Administration Department student-recruitment and engagement programs (10%). We seek to raise $50,000 by the PASA banquet in April annually.
Dr. Jones passed away on October 28, 2016, at the age of 94 in Atlanta, GA. A native of Pine Bluff, AR, and the 8th of 10 children, he was educated at then AM&N College in Pine Bluff, and at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. He taught at Roosevelt High School and became principal at Froebel High School in Gary, Indiana. In Washington, DC he was an administrator at the United Planning Organization, a Johnson era anti-poverty governmental agency. He left UPO and became a faculty member in the School of Business and Public Administration at Howard University and then relocated to Atlanta where he had a distinguished career as a professor and chairperson at Clark Atlanta University. He and Dr. Mack Jones cofounded the Public Administration Department in 1975. In addition, he enjoyed a successful career as a consultant working in Atlanta, Florida and DC. He was a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
