Advantages of Circular Economy
Circular economy helps reduce the use of non renewable resources: Reusing raw materials reduces supply-related concerns such as price changes, limited supply, and reliance on imports.
To preserve the environment : Product reuse and recycling would decrease the loss of biodiversity, lessen damage of the environment and habitats, and slow down the usage of natural resources.
Lower carbon emissions: A circular economy promotes the reuse of goods and materials, the use of renewable resources is encouraged, environmentally friendly practises are promoted, and other methods of managing materials more effectively.
Creation of new jobs: A more circular economy has the potential to encourage innovation, raise economic growth, improve competitiveness, and generate employment. Creating products and materials with circular usage in mind would also encourage innovation in other economic sectors.
Protect human health and biodiversity: Circular economy would protect the land and water as the amount of plastics would be reduced which are always polluting water.
Disadvantages of Circular Economy
Lack of strategic guidelines and standardisation: There is not enough information or guidelines for individuals to follow a circular economy plan.
A 100% circular economy could be very difficult to achieve: People may not do what is required for a circular economy and expectations are too high.
It could potentially also lead to less jobs: As there would be less waste sent to landfills it could result in job losses in landfills.
