P2831 Den Leader's Blog
The blog is designed to help create an ongoing database of Cub Scout activities.
Please help grow that database, by sharing your experiences for future leaders' reference.
Scoutbook
In this handout you will find step-by-step instructions on how to add profile pictures (leaders and cub scouts), how to RSVP for events (via Scoutbook or the Scouting App), how to record completion of adventures, and how to create events.
This is a "live document" that will be enhanced periodically.
Planning Adventures
Use these reference documents for early planning of your scouting year (adventures & awards).
The presentation contains a good amount of tips, best practices and references to make all den leaders' life easier.
Key takeaways: planning ahead, collaboration and mentoring
Communications best practices
For a pack the size of 2831, we need to use many communication methods, to ensure the message is received by all the pack families, and ensure maximum participation in all our events.
We use Scoutbook, email, google groups (distribution list), newsletter, text messages, phone, slack, facebook, our website and the monthly committee meetings.
The hyperlink takes you to a document that we developed and discussed during the January 2023 district roundtable meeting, about communication of pack events to the pack families.
Scouting Skills
Jordan shared the Knots Ninja Program, and demonstrated three knots, encouraging all the leaders to take advantage of the program, that was developed to enable the cub scouts to master the required knots, in preparation of for the troop. In addition, Jordan shared a great technique to start a campfire.
