1. What substance from the list would you like to research? Why?
Our first substance to research would be oxycodone because it has been brought to our attention that young adults are the ones who struggle the most with this substance because of the fact that they want to feel relaxation and wipe all their emotions away. We would like to better understand how and why this drug affects young adults and how this drug can help in a medical aspect when prescribed the right amount of doses. We would like to know more about this drug in order to educate others about how and why people mis-use this drug. There’s been more than $21 billion worth of Oxycodone sold in the US since 2010. By spreading information about this drug we hope to prevent people from getting addicted to drugs prescribed to them by their doctors and show them the consequences if they do become addicted to this substance.

2. What do you already know about this substance? What prior knowledge do you have?
What we currently know about this substance is that it is prescribed to relieve pain in the body, but most people mis-use the drug for other reasons like relieving their emotional pain which can result in serious side effects. We also know that oxycodone is part of a group of drugs known as opioids, and is most commonly prescribed by doctors to relieve moderate to severe pain. Oxycodone can come in many forms and also comes in a variety of strengths. Effects of Oxycodone can be pain relief, tiredness, euphoria, restlessness, dizziness or faintness, and slow pulse. Taking a large amount of Oxycodone can result in an overdose.

3. Why is this substance relevant or significant to you?
This drug is relevant to us because we are worried for those who abuse this drug and we want to help raise awareness. We would like to help others understand the effects that this drug has on the body and the brain. The ones who abuse this drug the most are young adults who want to get rid of their pain through this drug.This makes this drug even more wanted than the others.This is a big worry to us because we want to be able to understand how this drug works in order to help others understand the effects that this drug can have if you abuse it. We want to prevent the percentage of deaths in our community that are caused by this drug to increase.
