OXFORDSHIRE500

Oxfordshire500 is based on the idea that a group of members (who are anonymous to each other) pay a very small amount of money each month that collectively turns into a small donation to a local person, group or cause in the county.    It provides a very targeted £500 gift each month that could make a lot of difference to a family or community group that is struggling in some way.   The person or people getting the award are nominated and voted on by the members of Oxfordshire500 who are also monthly contributors.  Local people giving to local people.

Since November 2021 Oxfordshire500 has given monthly gifts of at least £500 (over £50,000 in total).  Please look at past donations on the History page.

We have been able to give three donations in September..   The first to a client nominated by CAB.  After a long and harrowing journey the client has finally been given humanitarian protection to stay in the UK and has been allocated a completely unfurnished flat.  He is in urgent need of some basic furnishings.  Secondly we gave a donation to a family nominated by Homestart.   Their client has significant mental health difficulties which have entailed severe hoarding.  She is feeling exhausted and hopeless after coping with her two children over the school holidays.  Homestart feel a weekend away with Spectrum holidays which caters for children with autism would make a huge difference to the family and give them a well earned break.   Finally we gave to a single mother with a 6 year old disabled daughter.   She will shortly be moving into a housing association property which is unfurnished with no carpets.   She is touch with her daughter's father but he is unable to contribute as he is unemployed.   This grant will make a big dfference to her in settling into her new home.   Nominated by CAB.

Next request for nominations will be sent out end October
