OXFORDSHIRE500

 Oxfordshire500 is based on the idea that a group of members (who are anonymous to each other) pay a very small amount of money each month that collectively turns into a small donation to a local person, group or cause in the county.    It provides a very targeted £500 gift each month that could make a lot of difference to a family or community group that is struggling in some way.   The person or people getting the award are nominated and voted on by the members of Oxfordshire500 who are also monthly contributors.  Local people giving to local people.

Since November 2021 Oxfordshire500 has given monthly gifts of at least £500 (over £50,000 in total).  Please look at past donations on the History page.

We have been able to give two donations in July.   The first to a client nominated by Homestart who put forward a family who have recently came into their support.  A single mother and 1 year old daughter. They have recently escaped a domestic abuse relationship which has left mother with PTSD, low mood and anxiety. She is engaging well with Domestic abuse services and is signed up to start complex needs therapy. The reason for this nomination is the family have been relocated to their own flat. They have very little in the way of furniture or curtains etc. She has very few funds and relies solely on benefits. Limited family around but they are unable to help.  £500 would go along way to support her in her new life.   Secondly through Connection Support a young individual who came from Egypt in 2015 as an unaccompanied minor. He has been through a lot – significant childhood trauma, looked after by social services, street homelessness, failed asylum immigration applications. He has a partner and a son but has been unable to live with them so far due to unresolved immigration situation. All he’s ever wanted is to have a fair shot in life, be able to work, provide for his family and set the right example for his son who just turned two in April.  The Oxfordshire500 grant will help him achieve this goal a lot sooner and will be used towards a deposit on this young family’s first ever family home.
