Welcome to the Oxford Afghanistan Society (OAS)!

Our society was founded to celebrate the rich culture and heritage of all ethnic groups within Afghanistan and Central Asia. We aim to bring people together, regardless of background, and foster connections that transcend borders. Whether you identify as Afghanistani, have an interest in the region, or simply want to explore new cultures, you are welcome to join us. You don’t need to be a student at Oxford University—everyone is invited!

Though we’re a new society, we have big ambitions! We hope to host fun and engaging cultural events where members can meet new people, collaborate with other Afghanistan societies at universities across the UK, and maybe even indulge in some friendly competition! Our ultimate dream is to host a spectacular Nowruz Ball, but along the way, there will be plenty of exciting opportunities to connect and celebrate.
