No Platforming
This is one of the strongest debates I have seen. Outlined are the thought proccesses from the greatest minds in the modern world. What does oxford beleive regarding information being a source for good and a source for harm? Well, watch Katie Hopkins as she is valued despite having epilepsy. As a speaker she was controversial, at least at Cambridge. The students at oxford take a deep dive at their debate hall into no platforming, and why higher education empowers viewing human thought as valuable from the right perspectives, not from all perspectives held. I love this debate. I love that she is literally a lightening rod..... for criticism that she beleives all others are utermichen. Of course they are not. She has epilepsy, which makes her a target for far right thinking. What good may the sick provide in terms of critical thinking. If you want an educated response... Here is Oxfords mediated debate, presenting a case for using information safely as a tool for societal betterment.

Featured here is Judge Judgy. She outlines a convincing argument regarding what our societal shared values are, as well as what we should consider reasonable. It was initially posted as part of a 2017 series on Oxford Union's youtube page, however it has been removed. Currently, as of May 1, 2024, I could find it from a different source on youtube.
At CIBC at the time of viewing this video I found it interesting to read that a group of individuals required anyone who wanted to move up to perform sexual favours. Oddly enough the case went in favor of the claimant rather than the defendant CIBC. Here Judy Shiendlin outlines that no, it is not okay to need to sleep to the top, and that is quite a horrific occurance to have be the case in any setting.
