In 1971, Gas was 36 cents, Richard Nixon was president, Apollo 14 landed on the moon, And the Oxford Emergency Squad was born. Even today, Oxford EMS stokes pride in those who serve. New technology, new lifesaving devices, and the commitment of training gives us the opportunity to not only change peoples lives but save them too. 50 years later; of service, teamwork, innovation, and Oxford pride, we still serve, for that we can all be proud.

Three members were instrumental in the formation of the Oxford Emergency Squad, Inc. They were Daniel Collins, John Henderson and Harvey Hissim. The Washington Emergency Squad aided in the creation of the organization which became active in 1971. Especially remembered by older members are the efforts of Washington squadmen Anthony Damelio and John Hoffmaster on their behalf.
The Hampton Emergency Squad donated its old ambulance to the new group, and that was the first vehicle to be placed in service. Several of the active members are women. This was one of the very first squads in Warren County to start a junior squad, the members of which meet the same requirements as the senior members.
The Oxford squad, which responded to 165 calls in 1979, has relieved the heavy load of calls of the Washington and Belvidere squads.
This squad had its own 24-hour volunteer dispatching service.
