Nine SEAL members volunteered at the PIN Holiday Clearinghouse event where they packed holiday meal kits for families throughout Delaware County.
Savannah Silva (Class of 2026) conducted a house project in which she held a raffle to raise money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
Sammy Maglott (Class of 2024) hosted a house project in which students hand-knitted scarves to be donated to Common Ground Free Store for community members who need them to keep warm during the cold winter season. 10 scarves were handmade and donated.
A house project by Sydney Vernadakis (Class of 2025), was to work with the Alzheimer’s Association and OWU Neurds to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. Sydney tabled in Ham-Will for about a week raising money and signing people up for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. After the walk, I also assembled a team of volunteers to help clean up after the walk. As a community, OWU raised over $400 dollars for this cause and a team of 11 students attended the walk.
Anna Nacci (Class of 2024), for her house project, partnered with the League of Women Voters of Delaware and OWU YDSA to table in HWCC. For the first round of tabling, they had the forms for students to register to vote and request absentee ballots, which were delivered to the Board of Elections. Stamps and information were provided for students to aide them in voting. Informational pamphlets about the issues in the election were also distributed. Anna helped to register around 40 voters and helped order around 50 absentee ballot request forms.
Madison Cartnal (Class of 2024) conducted a house project in which she hosted a crisis intervention training in partnership with the QPR Institute and Residential Life Coordinator Brian Emerick and aided students in creating hearts for the Peyton Heart Project which were distributed throughout campus to spread love and crisis support resources. 11 OWU community members were trained for crisis intervention and over 50 yarn hearts were made.
