Sometimes we get stuck in the routine of "survival". Many of us who grow up in poverty or face financial struggles young, forget to stop, breathe, and enjoy the view.
These life skill classes can help prevent that pattern from continuing. We aim to host one class a month for the year of 2026. Each class will cover an important skill that is vital in everyday life (budgeting, cooking, communication, stress management, to job readiness).
We will host these classes in person (at various locations around Houston) and on Zoom! So do not worry if you cannot make it this information will still be available to you.
Email us (onward@ownhtx.org) today to be added to our NewsLetter (just put NEWS in the subject).
Azul, our event coordinator, hosts events monthly for our community. Many are craft days in the park for all ages, partnerships with other community driven groups/nonprofits to spread info on what we do and the importance of hygiene, and some are to help us raise funds to do what we do.
We pride ourselves on access for all, especially when it comes to art and hygiene. Please be courteous of others hygiene, situations, and lifestyle.
If you are interested in helping us host any events we are in immediate need of: event/table spaces to set up for the summer, any food/catering to get people interested in event, samples or small items for goodie bags. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit and can provide a donation receipt upon request.
