If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the organizers (jesse.lundquist@ling-phil.ox.ac.uk).
On-site participants are invited to gather in the Leonard Wolfson auditorium while the talks are presented. The auditorium is adjacent to the Porter's Lodge (if you need directions, ask the porter).

By train: In general you will want to get off at the station called ‘Oxford’ (not to be confused with ‘Oxford Parkway’, where some trains also stop). Many buses stop in front of the station, where there is also a taxi rank, but it’s an easy walk to the bus stops in the center of town (see https://goo.gl/maps/TouJ3ydD28pczu7V8).
By bus (coach): Tell the bus driver you’d like to get off at the central bus station in Gloucester Green, which will be the last stop. If you need a taxi from there, walk east (i.e., the direction you are already going to get from the bus to the sidewalk) and cross the open brick-paved Gloucester Green to the taxi rank on the opposite side. To catch a bus in the direction of Wolfson, go east on George Street (the street from which the buses enter the station; turn left from the station to go east) to Magdalen Street (where you see a pretty little churchyard across the street). Turn left on Magdalen Street and the bus shelters soon appear (see https://goo.gl/maps/YUr7UZo8kaJKd6t79).
By air (from Europe): There are direct buses between Oxford and Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton or Stansted. Heathrow is the closest to Oxford but many cheaper flights go to Gatwick, Luton or Stansted. From all these airports there is a direct bus service to Oxford. This is usually cheaper and less complicated than travelling via London; from Heathrow or Gatwick it is also significantly faster. (For the latest information see https://airline.oxfordbus.co.uk for Heathrow or Gatwick; www.nationalexpress.com for Luton or Stansted.) Then proceed as above, under ‘By bus (coach)’.
By air (from North America): The most convenient airport is Heathrow; Gatwick is also practical but the trip to Oxford will take longer and cost more. Luton, Stansted, and Birmingham are only for intrepid bargain hunters (if you are travelling from continental Europe that could be a different matter: in this case see ‘Transport - from Europe’). To get to Oxford from Heathrow or Gatwick, take the direct bus (for latest information see https://airline.oxfordbus.co.uk/), which is significantly faster and cheaper than travelling via London. Then proceed as above, under ‘By bus (coach)’.
By car: Generally speaking it is not possible for non-residents to park in Oxford, and driving into town is prohibitively difficult even if your hotel has parking. Park your car at one of the park and ride lots on the ring road and take the park and ride bus to central Oxford. (Maximum stay is 72 hours at Pear Tree, Thornhill, and Water Eaton; no maximum stay at Redbridge and Seacourt. For more information see: https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/residents/roads-and-transport/public-transport/park-and-ride)
On foot: Wolfson is about half an hour's walk from central Oxford (45 minutes from the train station). There is a very pleasant back route through the university parks (but not efficient if one is heading for the train station).
By bus: The Oxford buses are generally frequent and efficient, and the Banbury Road route is a good one; however the buses just go along that road, and one has to walk along Linton Road to get to Wolfson (5-10 minutes). The best place to catch the buses is on Magdalen Street (https://goo.gl/maps/yeqz8oB2WEP11m4m8), whence you can take any #2 bus (2, 2A, 2B, 2C or 2D) from stop C1 or any #7 bus (7A, 7B or N7) from stop C2. Ask for a ticket to St. Margaret’s Road; a single ticket currently costs £2.00, and a return (round trip) costs £3.00. (A return ticket is valid if you are coming back via the same route on the same day. The #2 and #7 buses are run by different companies, but they accept each other’s return tickets.) The bus will go north on St. Giles and then swing right onto the Banbury Road; look out for a sign saying ‘Park Town’ on the right and push the button once you’ve passed it. After getting off, walk north briefly on the Banbury Road, cross it, and go down Linton Road to the right; Wolfson is at the end of the road. (If the bus passes a sign for the Parklands Hotel on the right, you've gone too far, as that is the corner of Linton Road. Get off as soon as you can, walk south, cross at the light, and go down Linton Road.) To return to central Oxford, walk back to the Banbury Road, turn left (do not cross the road), and take any bus that stops at the bus shelter. For more detailed information on buses, click here.
For workshop speakers and respondents: Thanks to generous funding from the Thyssen Research Fund, all participants in the workshop will be provided with two nights stay at Wolfson College. If you prefer to stay elsewhere, please notify the workshop organizers as soon as possible and see below (under 'for workshop attendees') for more information on local accommodations.
For workshop attendees:
The official Oxford City Visitor Information website (https://oxfordcity.co.uk/stay-in-oxford/) has lots of information on places to stay while in Oxford. We (the organizers) offer just a few brief remarks on some of the options.
As an inexpensive option, The Youth Hostel (https://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/yha-oxford) next to the train station is modern, clean, and safe. However, it tends to fill up, so if you're interested in staying there you should book early to avoid disappointment .
Another relatively inexpensive option is the Eurobar on Gloucester Green (https://www.eurobar.co.uk/). It may look noisy, but we have heard positive reviews.
The Richmond Hotel on Walton Crescent (Phone: 01865 311777; TripAdvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186361-d640507-Reviews-Richmond_Hotel-Oxford_Oxfordshire_England.html) has also been recommended to us as nice and not too expensive .
The closest hotel to Wolfson is the Linton Lodge on Linton Road (https://www.bw-lintonlodgehotel.co.uk/), but it's fairly expensive.
