Introduction

This transcribing system follows a simple task cycle: Get a log page image -> Transcribe it -> Upload the data

There are a few more steps than that to make it all happen, but it should be easy to follow if you keep this basic cycle in mind.

The first thing to do is to install and configure LibreOffice. You should only need to do this once.

Once you have Calc up and running, you can download the transcribing spreadsheet for one of the available log sets. There are some spreadsheet settings that you will need to customize. This gets done for each new log set spreadsheet that you use.

With those preliminaries completed, you're ready to start transcribing. First you'll reserve a section of log pages to transcribe. Once you have your page assignments you'll start using the spreadsheet to transcribe each of the log pages.

Once pages are transcribed you will upload your data file. You can do this after you complete each page, or wait until you're done with your current block of assigned pages and upload multiple pages at a time.

When you've finished all the pages in your assignment block, go get another assignment and repeat.
