21st Century Assistive Technology Act of 2022

The 21st Century Assistive Technology Act of 2022 defines assistive technology as " technology designed to be utilized in an assistive technology device or assistive technology service." It can be " any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities."

Asstive Technology was first defined in 2004, with the Assistive Technology Act of 2004. It was reauthoried in 2022 as the 21st Century Assistive Technology Act.
