Following the in-house alpha test, the beta test was the phase in which the game was opened up to a select number of invited players outside Blizzard for testing and feedback purposes.[3] The beta temporarily closed by the end of 2015.[4] The beta re-opened on February 9, 2016, with an all-new progression system, two new maps, one new game mode, several hero balance updates, and the introduction of bots.[5]

The game's public beta began on October 27, 2015, shortly after 5pm UT.[1] The beta started simultaneously in the Americas and Europe regions, with Asia to be added later.[1][8] Upon the start of the beta, Overwatch swiftly became top game on Twitch.tv, quickly reaching more than 200,000 viewers in total.[9]

Now now before we all go crazy at Blizzard for not announcing any reward for playing in the beta I want to tell you all where I stand on the subject. Now I have been playing Blizzard games for the better part of my life (I'm 19) I'm a huge fan of the company and the community around it. I do not think I am owed or entitled to a reward for playing beta, It was a privilege that I greatly appreciate and will never forget. Now saying that I am huge fan of having cool things that I can show off in game to show that "yea I've been here awhile ;)" saying that I think it would be awesome if Blizzard could come up with a cool special thing to give to those of us that played in beta. whether that be a skin or even just an icon (I do think the Overwatch icons are far superior to those of Heroes of the Storm or even StarCraft) --Anyway that's just one Blizzard fanboy's thought let me know how you feel!

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Blizzard Entertainment today announced that more than 9.7 million players around the world played its upcoming team-based shooter Overwatchtag_hash_124 during the Open Beta for PlayStation4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, and Windows PC, making it Blizzard's biggest open beta ever. By the time the Open Beta came to a close on May 10, participants had joined forces for more than 4.9 billion minutes (over 81 million hours) across more than 37 million matches of intense competitive action, incredible teamwork, and all-out fun.

This page explains the Overwatch 2 beta release date in the UK and other regions, the exact release time, when the beta ends, and how to get Overwatch 2 beta sign up access.

If you've successfully gained access to the Overwatch 2 beta on consoles and PC, and are selected to take part in the first wave, you will be able to start playing on Tuesday, 28th June.

It's important to note that even if you took part in the first beta, players are selected from a separate beta pool this time around, so you'll need to sign up again to take part in this second Overwatch 2 beta on consoles and PC.

You must visit playoverwatch.com/beta and sign up for access before 28th June to be within a chance of getting selected for Overwatch 2 beta access for free. The sign ups might even stop before this date if developer Blizzard's projected maximum server capacity is reached.

Select your platform and region from the drop down box and then login to your battle.net account to start the sign up process for this Overwatch beta. Playstation players need to select the region associated with their PSN ID, not the region they currently live in.

When the beta starts, a small group of people who signed up will be emailed to take part first, then more players will get added steadily over time, with the first wave of larger access planned to start a week later on Tuesday, 5th July.

Although you're not guaranteed Beta access if you sign up for free, Blizzard has stated on their website that its goal is to provide access to all players that opt-in to the beta by no later than 14th July.

To guarantee access to the Overwatch 2 beta at any time - even after it has started - you can purchase the Overwatch Watchpoint pack for 34.99/$39.99 on the platform you plan to play Overwatch 2 on.

The Overwatch 2 beta on consoles and PC will run between 28th June to 18th July. Blizzard has added that the end date may be extended based on what its testing needs are like on the scheduled end date.

If you missed out on signing up for the Overwatch beta before it launched, remember you can still gain access by purchasing the Watchpoint pack on the platform you plan to play the game on. It's a pricey solution, but you get other perks on top of beta access, including the Premium Season 1 battle pass for Overwatch 2 when it launches.

Welcome to the land of Overwatch [official site] beta thoughts. It is a land populated by shooty guns, caveats, health packs, potential excitements, potential concerns and the knowledge that a big old Overwatch presentation is going to take place at BlizzCon, 2am GMT on Saturday so I'll probably have a bunch more information to factor in as I continue playing.

This kind of support in Overwatch just felt miserable when I played. If you have the beta and like him I'd be really interested to hear why. For me he's about following teammates around and boosting them, keeping them alive but not getting the kills (although I have seen the official preview footage that has Lucio basically going on a rampage). Overwatch is a team-based shooter. Yes there's the team part of that but there's also the shooter part and when it comes to a character so focused around buffs and boosting other people I feel like the shooter part gets lost.

There's not a lot else I can really say at the moment. What I've detailed above is the experience I've had with what's in the beta along with concerns and points of interest. Making predictions about the future seems ill-advised because a lot will depend on how the beta develops and if/how they tweak the characters and feedback systems. There's also the addition of ice-themed defender Mei, tanky mech pilot D.Va and sword-wielding Genji (who is also Hanzo's cyborg baby brother, btw) to factor in.

I ran overwatch in varying performance options, mainly Ultra/high, an with FRS turned ON/OFF. The game runs basically flawless in high, and playable a 28+ in ultra without FRS. I do not play overwatch so personally I wasn't a fan of the scaling that FRS did, but I can see how in a PVP setting. smoother FPS is important. if you get anything higher than the base M2 chip with 16gb of RAM, you'll be fine for average consumer gaming on pretty good settings. you really want a better chip if you want 4k gaming.

after every death I lost control of my character if I did not keep my analog sticks moving during the kill cams. the workaround for this is using CMD+enter, to get overwatch into windowed mode, then selecting any other open app (battle.net is open), then selecting the overwatch app. im not a competitive player, but I can see how this would hamper some experiences

Starting today, June 28, until July 18, players on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S will have the opportunity to join our beta test for the first time before Overwatch 2 officially launches on October 4. This beta features new tank hero Junker Queen, new map Rio, and a new Push game mode. Additionally, players will finally get to experience the new and reimagined 5v5 gameplay and redesigned heroes.

For beta, we will begin granting access to players who opted-in through July 14. Players who buy the Overwatch 2: Watchpoint Pack on the Xbox Store will be granted immediate beta access today.

Our team has both technical and gameplay-related goals for this beta, so please share your thoughts, feedback, and experiences with us on Overwatch 2 beta forums! We are enthusiastic about including players in this vital testing phase, and we hope everyone has a great time in-game!

This beta arrives as Blizzard is separating the PvP and PvE components of Overwatch 2. The goal is to get content into players' hands sooner than would otherwise be possible, and without loot boxes. PvE is expected to arrive in 2023. The PvP component of Overwatch 2, which will replace the existing Overwatch live game, releases on October 4.

As we talked with others in the line, they spoke about how they had been in the closed betas previously, and were excited to see if they could get the most kills in the demo on the show floor. As one of my friends asked me who the characters were, I got a sinking feeling in my stomach.

It was with this in the back of my head that I anxiously waited for my open beta download to finish. Was this game going to crush my spirits? Maybe Overwatch and FPS games like this were out of my depth now.

Bastion is a jerk. The character model itself is adorable - it's a self-sentient robot that loves birds perching on it - but holy crap, is he a popular murder machine. Given his ability to turn into his own turret, it felt like every time I turned a corner, there was one waiting there for me to deal with. There are ways to deal with him for sure, but expect to see a lot of Bastion in the open beta, and to maybe get a little frustrated. You need a team to deal with getting around that constant gatling fire, either by using tanks or long range explosives, and as people still learn the game, teams don't always come together. I lost a few games because my group had multiple offensive characters on it, or we had three defensive snipers that just didn't work with what we needed to do. A well placed Bastion seems to almost be a sort of 'team check' in a way. Do you change your strategy to deal with him, or just continuously run into certain death? 17dc91bb1f
