What Does an SFRC Do?

As the Student Family Resource Coordinators (SFRC), Raeshelle and Kaylynn are your go-to for all students and families needing any kind of additional support. Some of the students and families who could benefit from SFRC assistance include those struggling with homelessness, experiencing mental or emotional challenges, and/or going through the foster care or adoption programs. If you think you might benefit from SFRC assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask.

Your SFRC team is excited to engage with students in small group meetings focusing on a variety of topics such as divorce, anxiety, friendship, and bullying. In addition to those focus groups, Raeshelle will also be continuing her much loved LLIT (Listen, Learn, Interact, Talk) group for both Middle School and High School students.  LLIT is held weekly and will be on your students CC schedule.

They are here to motivate and see what is preventing your student from succeeding in school, so don’t wait for failing grades, reach out to your student’s teacher and let them know you need some extra support!

The SFRC is available to help your student who may struggle with many social issues or family situations. But the SFRC is not just available for the student but to support the Learning Coach as well.

School has its own challenges, and we know how important it is for students to have the support they need to be successful.

Social Resources

The SFRC also supports families and student’s who may face any of the following social issues:

What if my student is seeing a private counselor?

The SFRC is not a replacement for your current therapist/counselor but added support as part of our OVCA team.

The SFRC can work with your student’s teachers to support and advocate for your student if they are struggling with anxiety/depression or any mental illness and it’s interfering with their schooling.

Confidentiality between the student/LC and SFRC is assured, with the usual acceptation of reports of abuse or self-harm.

I take care of the students and families who live to the east of I-35. I started with OVCA in 2015, and I have close to 30 years in Social Services/Education. I have a BA in Social Work from Oral Roberts University and a Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Nazarene University. I have worked in various areas of social services and education, ranging from Eating Disorders, Hospice/Medical, Alternative Education, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault/Human Trafficking, and many other areas of Social Services. I am also a Certified Group fitness instructor. When I'm not supporting my students and families, I can be found at the gym teaching bootcamp and working out, riding my Peleton, watching my boys' football games, or at the dog park with my fur baby, Champion.

I struggled my entire life with multiple learning challenges and had a hard time with school. Despite being told by a High School Guidance Counselor that I would only be "a huge success working at Sears" (indicating I would never achieve education beyond High School), I graduated from Graduate school with Honors and I love my job in education. I am passionate about empowering others to believe that they can do anything they put their minds to!

I am currently the Student Family Resource Coordinator for the western part of the state. I will be serving the students and families west of I-35.  Though this is my first year with OVCA, it is my third year in education.  I began my career in education teaching 8th grade History and then became a middle school counselor.  I have a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  Helping my students meet their educational goals while also serving the social and emotional needs of them and their families is my passion.  It is very important to me to know that I have set my students up for lifelong success that goes far beyond their schooling years.  Some of my favorite things to do outside of serving my students include baking, working in my garden, hiking, and traveling with my husband and our sweet fur baby girl, Poppy!
