Below is a list of organizations that our narrators are a part of or that have helped them get to where, and who, they are today.

Baltimore Safe Haven

Baltimore Safe Haven started in 2018 with a vision of creating a community and a resource that those in the TLGBQ community, particularly black transgender women who were living in survival mode, could rely on. Baltimore Safe Haven provides at-risk TLGBQIA people in Baltimore City with opportunities to transform their lives.

FreeState Justice

FreeState Justice is the only statewide LGBTQ advocacy organization in the country that combines direct legal services and policy advocacy to serve the needs of LGBTQ communities. FreeState Justice envisions a Maryland where people across the spectrum of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer identities are free to live authentically, with safety and dignity, in all communities throughout the state.

BMORE BLXCK

​​BMORE BLXCK is a Black, queer, youth-led grassroots & social justice organization based in Baltimore. It was co-founded by Legacy Forté, one of the narrators of this project. Their goal is to reallocate wealth and power, disrupt white spaces, and protect Black individuals to secure a more equitable state of living.

The Baltimore Trans Alliance

The Baltimore Trans Alliance is a family of organizations, activists, and community members. It is an autonomous transgender sanctuary that serves as a conduit for the power of community members to energize the Movement for Trans Liberation in our city.

Their mission is to Unify, Reclaim, and Empower the transgender communities of Baltimore City.

Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund

The Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund is committed to ending discrimination based upon gender identity and expression and to achieving equality for transgender people through public education, test-case litigation, direct legal services, and public policy efforts.

The Washington Consulting Group

The Washington Consulting Group (WCG), specializes in helping organizations and individuals preform and produce at their highest potential. We believe strongly in the power of human capital and work to address and breakdown barriers to success, while envisioning a more liberated, successful and inclusive environment.

Unity Felowship Church of Baltimore

The Unity Felowship Church of Baltimore's vision is to establish a place where everyone can be a part of an unconditional loving and caring church family. They want to provide a safe space that is open to all who want to worship in an atmosphere of love, acceptance, and respect while developing their personal and spiritual relationship with the “Divine Creator”.


Journey to Josiah

The aim of Journey to Josiah is to increase the rates of adoptions and fostering of children around the world. With a mission focused on education and outreach, Journey to Josiah’s content will increase the likelihood of connecting children with deserving adults to create strong bonds and loving families.

Citizens Review Board for Children

The Citizens Review Board for Children (CRBC) supports all efforts to provide permanence for children in foster care. Together they envision the protection of all children from abuse and neglect, only placing children in out-of-home care when necessary; and providing families the help they need to stay intact; children will be safe in a permanent living arrangement.

Children's Legislative Action Committee

The Children's Legislative Action investigates what factors jeopardize the condition of the State's children, youth, and families. By identifying what State policies and actions might benefit them, the Committee is able to recommend new laws, regulations, and budget priorities to improve children's well-being.

Center for Hope

The Center for Hope's goal is to advance hope, healing, and resilience for those impacted by trauma, abuse, and violence through comprehensive response, treatment, education, and prevention.

In response to the growing presence of violence in Baltimore, LifeBridge Health is committed to building hope with their communities .

Pride Center of Maryland

The Pride Center of Maryland offers over 30 programs and services that reflect their dedication to ensuring Maryland’s sexual and gender minority community have equal access to care, services, and a space where they can be their authentic selves.

Their mission is to be a catalyst for uniting and empowering sexual and gender minorities in Baltimore and Central Maryland, and advocating for a better quality of life for the entire community.

GoodKids MadCity Baltimore

GoodKids MadCity are a group of Black and Brown youth committed to ending violence in their cities. They call for more resources into their communities.

Hinenu

Hinenu is a growing community in Baltimore of Jews and loved ones who study, pray, organize, and care for one another. Hinenu ( הננו ) means "here we are" in Hebrew, and Shtiebl is Yiddish for "little house," a term for an intimate, cozy space where prayer and study meet. Hinenu welcomes you to explore, learn, build, and grow with them.

Youth Against Oppression

Youth Against Oppression is a youth-led advocacy program dedicated to creating affirming space, fighting oppression and supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and same-gender loving (LGBTQIA/SGL) youth’s personal development.
