Attendance Policy

Our goal is to cultivate a group of active women who participate in our events on a regular basis, build long term friendships, and see Outdoor Connection as a meaningful part of their lives. Our organizers and event hosts volunteer their time so we have awesome, well-run events. Please respect that effort by adhering to our attendance policy.

-       If you sign up, show up (or edit your RSVP to indicate you're no longer going). If you indicate that you will be attending an event, and you're on the "Going" list, we do expect to see you there. No showing is not okay. It's super quick and easy to edit your RSVP on Meetup or post a comment/message the event host if your plans have changed. Members with repeat no shows (3 or more) or who no show to special events (camping trips, events with an active waitlist, etc.) may be removed from the group. (If there's some sort of special circumstances and you'd like to rejoin the group, please contact the group organizer to discuss.)

-       Avoid canceling at the last minute if possible. We understand that life happens! We all get sick, have car trouble, have to go out of town last minute, etc. Occasionally canceling at the last minute is okay. However, please update your RSVP early whenever you can. This is especially important for our events that have a waitlist, since you may be keeping someone else from being able to attend. (Note: canceling after the event has already started without commenting/messaging the event host may be counted as a no show.)

-       Our events are for our Meetup group members only. We do not allow guests. If you'd like to bring friends to an event, they must first join the group, and then sign up for the event themselves. This is necessary in order to ensure all participants have agreed to the group guidelines, have accepted our disclaimer/waiver, and have access to full details about the event.

-       If you are late, you will miss us. Our events start promptly at the stated meetup time and we do not wait for late arrivals. (Note: event hosts are busy getting ready and greeting members the morning of events and generally aren't able to provide support to help individual members find us. Please familiarize yourself with the "Where We Meet" section of the event details before heading out and give yourself plenty of buffer time if it's a park you haven't been to before.)

-       Don't be afraid to join the waitlist if an event has one. We limit attendance at our events based on parking, bike traffic, campsite availability, etc. We also limit attendance to be considerate of other park users, respect Leave No Trace principles, and keep group size manageable for our event hosts. Spots often open up as we get closer to the event, and it's rare that you won't make it off of the waitlist. Please do make sure that you have notifications on or are checking back in on the event so that you're aware of your status.

-        Please participate! Join our events, post photos, connect with other members, and interact with our group on Facebook. Our members are what makes Outdoor Connection awesome! Members that do not participate may be removed from the Meetup group after long periods of inactivity. If you are removed for inactivity, please feel free to rejoin the group at a later date.
