Warning images of herpes. I tried to make them not graphic or of straight genitalia. But this is what herpes looks like!
Outbreaks do not really look like what they do on the internet, so I did some digging to get some accurate depictions of what a herpes sore looks like. Keep in mind this is different for every person and it can be different per outbreak. I have personally had 3-4 different types of outbreak ranging from my fist outbreak (a disaster zone of endless sores) to my more current situation which is max 2 sores that look like razor bumps. The internet CANNOT diagnose you. PLEASE go to a doctor as soon as you can to get a diagnosis. This page should not be used to diagnose yourself.
Outbreak clusters are usually the size of a quarter, sometimes smaller. Sometimes they look like the typical sore and others like a papercuts.

This is what a healing cold sore looks like. This is why you need to be careful this is easily covered up with lipstick and you would never even know it was there.
This is a full cold sore usually cold sores are a single sore that is raised and slightly off the lip just like this. Cold sores are RARELY inside the mouth. If you have a sore on the inside of your mouth most likely it is a canker sore that is not contagious and not a strain of herpes.
Sometimes cold sores can appear in the nose or in the space in between the mouth and the nose. This is most likely HSV-1.
This is what whitlow looks like when I had my only whitlow outbreak it looked more like the 2nd because I bit my cuticles and the virus entered in through my open cuticle.
Standard Genital Herpes
This is what a herpes sore looks like before they become raised tiny red bumps. Sometimes they never get bigger than this depending on how good your immune system is at fighting it off.
This cluster is zoomed into a spot around the size of a quarter. These are textbook herpes sores that are raised and filled with a clear/milky white liquid. (This is what mine looks like a lot of the time) The cluster is usually the size of a dime or a quarter.
Paper Cut Genital Herpes
This is what a papercut herpes sore tends to look like. They can easily be mistaken for a razor cut that happened while shaving
Usually a form of HSV-1 contracted during sports such as wrestling. Usually appearing on parts of the body other then mouth or genitals
