About Us

At Our Out Back Wildlife Rescue we are a 501(c)3 tax exempt Nonprofit dedicated to rehabilitating wildlife. 

We have a licensed wildlife rehabilitator in Virginia. We specialize in caring for rabies vector species, like foxes and raccoons, that are often not taken by other wildlife rehabilitators and are frequently euthanized. Raccoons, in particular, are time and resource-intensive to rehabilitate, requiring extended care before they can be safely released. We have a no-kill policy, providing ethical and compassionate care to every animal in our care.

In addition to saving wildlife, we are committed to empowering at-risk teenagers through mentorship and hands-on experience with wildlife rehabilitation. We would like to start a program help foster compassion, empathy, and valuable life skills, offering youth the opportunity to contribute to wildlife conservation while growing personally.

You can make a difference too! Whether you're interested in becoming a wildlife rehabilitator, a mentor for at risk teens or simply want to volunteer by helping feed baby animals, we invite you to join our efforts. However, it’s important to always comply with legal requirements. Each state has specific laws regarding wildlife care and necessary licensing, so you must have the proper training, including rabies vaccination, before handling certain species.
