Dear Incoming or Current IB students

If you are wondering who the people addressing you are, our names are Deneilya Scott and Yvonne Clinton. We are current seniors in the IB program and by the time you are reading this, our time in the IB program has come to an end. This is our way of helping other IB students succeed in this program, so we will be offering you some tips.

We will giving you a breakdown of required of the IB requirements and some of the courses you may take.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay, and the CAS Project are all required to get the IB Diploma. TOK can be summarized as a philosophy class and covers a little bit of every subject. It is meant to get you to think outside of the box and question everything. For this class, you also have to write an essay or Internal Assessment with questions given by IB. The Extended Essay is a 4000-word essay that requires you to do extensive research on a specific topic from a subject of your choice. The CAS project is your service project and requires you take charge as a leader with the purpose of helping other people.

Overall, our experience in the IB program has not only helped us grow and develop as students, but people also. It has helped us understand that you need to be smart to get far in your life, but instead just want to do all the work that it takes and that you should be able to handle it. Also, teachers are very important with helping students get through the IB program so don't complain about the amount of work that they give you !

We would highly recommend the IB program to anyone that wants to be prepared for college and understands how to manage their time.
