The big news is: L is pregnant. Our little Snowflake is due next year in February. We thank God for His kindness.
Last June is when we did our final transfer. We transferred our remaining two Snowflakes. "You're OK with twins?" our doctor asked. "Whatever God gives us," was our response.
Unfortunately, one of them didn't make it. We grieve his loss, even while celebrating our final Snowflake's survival. A fighter, that one is.
Thank you all for your support.
Thank you God for the gift of life.

Thank you to the two anonymous donors who gave this week! We are humbled by your generosity. Thanks to you, we are already 27% there. Mugi, our quirky little cat, is grateful that we are one step closer to adopting another member into our family.

Highlights from video update:
We are 90% through the home study stage. After we submit a final document, Nightlight will send a social worker to our house to complete the home study.
Shout-out to an additional two parties who so generously gave—including someone who has the same exact name as one of us! We are 55% of the way there—hooray!

We get to know some other couples who have adopted.
We pass our home study!

It's been a while since we posted an update. Not too much to report this update, despite the fact that nearly two months have passed since the last one. Over the last two months, we've been working towards addressing a recommendation made to us during our homestudy. We should be able to move into the matching phase this week! During the matching phase, we won't really have much of an active role; instead, we'll mostly be waiting and praying that God will match us with the right family.
The other thing to report is that family and friends have continued to be so supportive. A few weeks ago, we touched base with a high school friend and her husband and were able to chat with them about our adoption process. So grateful for that opportunity! Also, just yesterday, I. spoke with a mutual friend— now, a new friend—who found about about our adoption and decided to come alongside us. Thank you so!

Happy Thanksgiving!
We are grateful for your prayers and support. We just finished reading Nightlight's 2020 Annual Report. It was neat to learn about all other couples out there adopting, whether via international, domestic, or embryo adoption. We finally finished the pre-matching paperwork phase and should be moving into the matching phase next week. We find ourselves in an odd place—increasingly filled with hope, yet not wanting to presume anything; after all, life is God's to give. We are trying to hold everything lightly, knowing that what we ought to cling tightly to should be the Father's hand.
Funding update: we are 96% of the way there! We are floored that so many should come through in such generous ways.

Brief update:
A few weeks ago, we were able to raise 100% of our targeted funds! Also, a close friend of L's generously held a Black Friday sale of her art on our behalf. We're so thankful for all of you who given so magnanimously.

Half a year later...
There's a term in Japanese, machiaguneru 待ちあぐねる, which means "to grow weary of / while waiting." That succinctly describes our situation. Still waiting. In the meantime, we have actually opened up our search to include also children who are fully Asian or white. We shall see how the Lord leads. Please pray that we will wait more on Him than on baby.

Short but significant update. We have been matched! Given confidentiality issues, we cannot reveal too much about the other family. We can say, though, that if all goes well, we will be adopting kids (in the embryonic stage of development) who are half (Chinese/white). We still have to create and sign the contract, and then have the embryos shipped over. That should take anywhere from 1-3 months. We look forward to keeping you updated!

Short but significant update #2. Crazy that it's been almost half a year since the last post. In early November, we did our first transfer. Unfortunately, the little snowflake did not take. It's been hard, but we will continue to look to our Risen Lord. His life and presence give us hope. Thanks for your prayers.
