SALT & LIGHT
[Intro — Spoken/Sung Softly]
Jesus said...
You are the salt of the earth.
You are the light of the world.
So why would I hide
what You put inside of me?
Send me, Lord.
I'll shine.
[Verse 1]
There's a world outside my window
Trying to find its way through night,
People searching for an answer,
Looking everywhere for light.
But You didn't save me just to sit here,
You gave these hands a work to do.
If somebody's searching for You, Lord,
Let them catch a glimpse through me of You.
Let my kindness speak Your mercy,
Let forgiveness show Your grace.
Let me feed somebody hungry,
Let me love the ones displaced.
I don't have to own a pulpit
For somebody's life to change.
I can carry Christ into the darkness
And never leave the same.
[Pre-Chorus]
If the room is getting darker,
That's no reason I should hide.
You didn't tell the light to fear the darkness—
You told the light...
SHINE!
[Chorus]
I'm gonna be the salt,
I'm gonna be the light,
Carry Jesus into darkness
And let His love shine bright.
From the city to the broken,
From my neighbor to the street,
Let them see the God I worship
By the way that I love people that I meet.
Salt of the earth,
Light of the world,
That's who You called us to be.
Send me into the darkness, Lord—
Let them see Your light in me.
[Verse 2]
Joseph carried faith through Egypt
When the famine filled the land.
Esther walked into the palace,
Risked her life and took a stand.
Daniel wouldn't hide his worship
When they told him not to pray.
Paul and Silas sang in prison—
And a jailer's life was changed.
Different people, different places,
But the same Almighty God.
Faith was never meant for hiding,
It was meant to travel far.
So send us where the hope is missing,
Send us where the hurting are.
We will carry Christ with courage,
Like a lantern in the dark.
[Chorus]
We're gonna be the salt,
We're gonna be the light,
Carry Jesus into darkness
And let His love shine bright.
From the city to the broken,
From our neighbors to the streets,
Let them see the God we worship
By the way that we love people that we meet.
Salt of the earth,
Light of the world,
That's who You called us to be.
Send us into the darkness, Lord—
Let them see Your light in me.
[Bridge — Reflective]
But if nobody sees Your love
In the way that I live...
If I speak about forgiveness
But refuse to forgive...
If I see somebody hurting
And I simply walk away...
If my mouth can quote the Scripture
But my life won't do what it says...
Then, Jesus...
Change me first.
[Music Drops — Male]
Season my words with grace.
Put compassion in my hands.
Give me courage like Esther,
Integrity like Daniel,
Faith when I'm surrounded,
And feet willing to go.
[Build — Choir Enters]
Because disciples don't only hear the Word—
We live it!
We don't only talk about love—
We give it!
We don't run when darkness comes—
We shine!
And when somebody asks whose light this is—
JESUS CHRIST!
[Final Chorus]
We are the salt!
We are the light!
We're taking Jesus to the world
And letting His love shine bright.
Make disciples of the nations,
Teach the truth that sets us free.
May they see our good works
And give the glory, God, to Thee.
Salt of the earth!
Light of the world!
We know who You've called us to be.
Send us into every darkness—
And let them see...
Jesus in me.
[Outro — Saxophone + Choir]
Shine...
When it's dark—
Shine.
When you're afraid—
Shine.
When nobody else will go—
Go.
Salt of the earth...
Light of the world...
Lord, send me.
I'll go.
