It was built in 1911 by J Rhein & J Ruetz Masons (as seen in the picture). We have had it painted several times and had new shingled roofs put on. In the 1990’s Frank Graham repaired the purlins that support the roof. He also repaired the east wall (which was starting to lean) in 2013. In 2015, the Amish jacked up the barn, took the south foundation wall out (which we feared would collapse) and replaced it with a block wall. They also put a new metal roof on in 2016. In 2020 our Amish friends put steel on the outside of the barn to further protect it and installed our new diamond plate sign (in picture). In 2022 the middle section of the floor was replaced. And in 2023 the East side of the floor was repaired.
We hope you can feel the history and the love and care that have gone into preserving this old barn when you’re inside of it. Don’t forget to look up and see the craftsmanship.
