Optical tweezers: biophysics and beyond is a workshop which aims at gathering scientists interested in the use of Optical Tweezers for performing biological, chemical and physical studies at the microscopic and nanoscopic level. Of course, the workshop will concern recent results obtained in biophysics by means of optical tweezers, but it is also extended beyond this traditional research area, to include topics related to rheological phenomena of micro-particles, biochemical processes, mechano-chemical transformations, stochastic thermodynamics and much more. Contributions from PhD students and young researchers are especially welcome.

In particular with this workshop we would like to provide to all the scientists orbiting around the optical tweezers community an opportunity for meeting, exchanging ideas, getting informed about the most recent developments, reinforcing their collaboration networks and designing new paths for collaborative research.

The topics of interest for this workshop will include experimental and theoretical studies on:

  • protein folding
  • microrheological measurements
  • stochastics thermodynamics
  • DNA elastic response
