About Me

I worked two years in the late 1980s as a news writer/editor for Byerly Publications, Inc. I loved it, but left to help my husband start his law firm. Since then (30+ years) a large part of my job has been proofreading and light editing legal letters and documents. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing (1986).

I have been an avid reader all of my life. I never thought about beta reading or proofreading fiction until I purchased my first Kindle and began reading stories written by independent authors. I read many wonderful stories marred by a variety of issues. I found myself thinking, "If only I had read this before it was published ..."

Now I want to do what makes me happy - read and critique the stories I love. I am great with details, continuity, working through complicated scenes, ferreting out plot holes. I am also a stickler for clear and consistent writing. I want to help the reader enjoy your unique style and voice.

About Otterville Overhaul, LLC

Otterville is not a "ville", it's what we've named part of our property. It consists of about two wooded acres with a gorge and runoff stream that empties into a bottom which then opens up into a tidal salt marsh we can see from our driveway. The driveway actually wraps around a good bit of it. Our dogs (large mixed breed rescues) love to play there, and yes, otters have attempted to nest there.

The photographs on this site were taken in Otterville. All of the dogs are from shelters, rescue groups, or just bad situations.

Overhaul means to take apart a machine or system, look for problems and then fix it. That's how I feel about helping independent authors with beta and proofreading. They have written their story (the machine or system) and my work helps them make their story read smoothly.

I look forward to reading your manuscript and providing the assistance you need to effectively tell your story.
