This is a one-day 3-game online tournament.
We use the Swiss pairing rules. Tie breaking system is SOS and SOSOS.
AGA rules, 7.5 points komi.
Time setting: each player has 45 minutes of main time. Byo-yomi: 5 x 10 seconds.
All players are expected to avoid any assistance in their play. AI obviously, but also books, help from friends/family. We expect to use cameras in the top group (technical details TBD). Game records for all players will be available to the tournament director and subject to review as needed.

The children's rating competition is divided into 4 groups:
Group A: 10K – 1K
Group B: 15K – 10K
Group C: 20K – 15K
Group D: 20K or lower
Grading methods
Kyu level players: there would be 5 rounds in total. Any players win at least 2 games out of 5 will be successfully awarded with a Go Rank Certificate. 2 wins will be the rank that is self declared during registration. 3 wins to upgrade 1K, 4 wins to upgrade 2K, and 5 wins will upgrade 3K.
Dan level players: there are no specific groups for the children's Dan level players. The Dan level players will compete directly in the Ottawa Cup groups and play 3 games in total. If win at least 2 games out of 3 will be successfully awarded with a Go Rank Certificate with the level associated with the particular group joined. For example, if you played in the 4D group and win 2 games you will be awarded with a 4D level certificate.
If there are not enough players in the same group, or if the levels of the players in the same group differs from each other greatly, a handicap will be decided by the game organizer following the Canadian Go Association rules.
Go levels: all the Ottawa Go School students please ask your teacher to determine the proper level. All other players please self-declare your Go level.
Students who have learnt Go for less than 3 months will be placed n the D group with a level of 30K. There will be a handicap if play with any higher level players. Those who win 1 game will be set to 26K, 2 wins will be set to 25K.
Note all players must finish all the 5 games in order to be qualified for Go rating and to get the certificate.
