The following “Come to Stay” information will help teams plan for and attend the bonspiel weekend and includes details on travel, parking, accommodations, food, beverages, entertainment, reception, etc.
Most meals will be provided as part of the registration fee.
Breakfast: Friday will be continental. Saturday will be a hot breakfast served buffet style and provided by Take Another Bite Catering. Sunday will be continental.
Lunch: Friday will be Italian with pastas, salads, etc. served buffet style and provided by La Bottega Nicastro. Saturday will be a light lunch served buffet style. Sunday is still to be determined.
Dinner: Thursday evening the OCC kitchen will be open. Friday will be various types of pizza from Gabriel Pizza. Saturday will be the banquet meal provided by Take Another Bite Catering.
Coffee will be available each morning compliments of Happy Goat Coffee Company.
A variety of FritoLay table snacks will be provided complementary throughout the weekend.
The club’s bar will be open for the whole weekend. It accepts cash, debit and credit. There is no ATM at the club. Bottled water is available for sale at the bar. The club also provides cups and tap water at the bar. Bottled water dispensers are located inside the rink alongside the ice surface.
Teams will receive “Bar Bucks” with their team bag at reception, which can be used at the bar during the weekend.
The bonspiel banquet will be held at the club on Saturday evening and is included in the registration fee. The service will be buffet style and seating for diners will be in the main lounge. There will be two assigned seating times at 4:45-6:15 and 6:45-8:15 PM. Teams will know their assigned seating period on Saturday afternoon once qualifier results are available.
There will be a small number (approximately 10-12) of guest banquet tickets available for sale for both banquet seating times on a first come first served basis at $40 each. Please email bonspiel@rainbowrockers.ca to request a ticket and for additional instructions.
The banquet will include a 30-minute keynote guest speaking during each of the two seating times.
A robust and varied entertainment package is planned for the weekend and is spread throughout each day and evening.
Thursday will include in-house music.
Friday from 12:00-12:30 is the on-ice opening ceremonies. It includes a parade of teams onto the ice along with sponsor representatives and bonspiel organizers and volunteers. Our keynote guest for the weekend, Emma Miskew will help deliver the ceremonial first rock along with Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. Mark Wilkinson will perform the national anthem.
Friday daytime will include parlour games as well as card and board games.
Friday night disco party brought to us by Extreme Entertainment. Get your best disco outfits ready. Be prepared to dance to songs of the 70s and 80s and enjoy some fun dance and costume contests. More information will follow on contests and prizes. Please, no glitter or boas.
Saturday will see the return of Beats’n Keys. The duo were very popular in 2024 and will be back to provide superb music as the first playoff games get underway early Saturday afternoon.
Saturday evening will feature two 30-minute chat and Q&A sessions (one after each banquet sitting) with Emma Miskew, our keynote guest for the bonspiel. Emma is 4x Canadian Champion and 2x World Champion, as well as an Olympian curler. The sessions will be hosted by the Rainbow Rocker’s very own Darren McEwen.
Saturday night will feature the ever popular karaoke hosted by Dreamers’ Song & Dance Inc. It is a chance for curlers to show their off-ice talents.
Sunday afternoon will see the closing ceremony at 2:15-2:45 PM and the awards ceremony at 5:00-6:00 PM. Please join us at the club for both these ceremonies. The ceremonies will also be broadcast live on the RRCL YouTube channel.
We are pleased to be partnered with Arc The Hotel Ottawa to provide a special rate for the bonspiel weekend. Arc has set aside 20 rooms - 10 double occupancy rooms and 10 single occupancy rooms - at a rate of $159 per night. The host club is the Ottawa Curling Club. It is the proud home of the Rainbow Rocker’s Curling League and the home of national and international champions, Team Homan.
There are 29 parking spots in front of and alongside the club. There are also street and paid parking lot options nearby. Please check the club’s website for details on parking.
The men’s locker room is in the basement and the women’s upstairs. There are no vacant lockers available during the weekend. There is sufficient space in the locker rooms to change and plenty of hooks to hang clothing. The club has a small pro-shop on site, with a limited inventory of equipment, that will be available during the weekend.

A reception table will be open on Thursday evening and Friday morning. Please check in on arrival at the club. A team bag will be provided at check in, along with various food and beverage vouchers.

A program booklet, detailing the events of the weekend, will be provided in the team bag provided at reception and posted online on this website in early January.
50/50 draws and Joker’s Wild games will be held throughout the weekend. Cash, debit or credit can be used.
A raffle table will be set up and raffle tickets sold during Friday and Saturday. There will be a large number and variety of items available at a range of prices. Cash, debit or credit can be used.
Teams will complete a draw to the button as part of their first game. In addition to the result being used as a tiebreaker if needed after round robin play, it will be used to award the team with the best cumulative draw result with a prize.
Each team member will receive a ballot in their team bag to nominate another team that best represents the spirit of curling. Ballots will be turned in before the banquet. The Spirit of Curling Prize recipient team will be announced at the end of the banquet.
