Things to Think of:

There are TONS of FREE resources! I have provided free & at cost website links for resources that are unbelievably helpful. Here are some questions and things you should think about when starting a place of your own. 

What is the business going to do? sell items? services?  real estate /BNB? non-profit works? 

What are the start up costs associated with this venture (create a budget to go with your business plan)?

Where are the funds to open and run this business coming from (i.e.  are you thinking of financing it or apply for grants)?

Is the name you want to call your business available?

Who will handle government compliance?

State registration-ODOT-PUCO-EIN-BOI Reporting- 

Business Registration- The government, more than likely will need you to register your business. This can be done online!

What type of licenses do you need?

Will you register your business as a Sole Proprietor, S-Corp, C-Corp, Partnership,  or maybe an LLC.? 

What kind of insurance will you need?

Will you hire employees? Do you need a payroll company?

How will you advertise/market your product?

We recommend having a professional help you with your bookkeeping or transferring to a new software.

 It only takes a small error to create inaccurate figures.  (This is not because we want more money, yes that is a benefit for us but not the reason this is stated).There are many reasons you should hire a bookkeeper. With that being said if you are still insisting on doing it on your own here are some things that may help (still have a professional look at what you have done before filing taxes or using the information to make any financial decisions).

Back up your information! One of the more popular ways is via CSV. format (other options are available you must see what your bookkeeping software prefers)  that varies. The 📁files you download will contain the information as entered into your bookkeeping software, errors included!

Double entries (these pesky things will throw a nice set of📚 books📑 into disarray) Upload the file once and give it some time for the software to work its 🔮magic ✨.

  24 hours ⏰ is usually enough time for the new software to have read and applied all of the information correctly.

Files📂 may not be compatible if you are unsuccessful in uploading or scanning the information into your software (you need to find a trusted converter program to switch the 📁 file type, if this issue arises). Your bank account may be able to port most of the information but if you are more than 3 months behind the entries may not upload forcing manual entry as the next option. This is tediously time⌛ consuming, detail oriented, and knowing where to categorize the information can get tricky. At this stage in the game, if you are having these complications, please really consider the advantages of having a professional assist you with entering and categorizing your data. A lot can go wrong with manual entry.
