Juniors from Gompers Preparatory Academy and High Tech High Chula Vista practiced on Otay Lakes from 2014-2016. We are hoping to bring a competitive rowing program back to Chula Vista.

Tracy’s 41 year adventure in rowing began at Berkeley High before navigating through Boston University, the S.F.Bay Area, Coeur de Alene and Austin TX, and has included memberships in both Chinook and Endeavor traveling teams. Tracy’s professional career includes symphony musician, National Guard, firefighter/paramedic, pro bodybuilder and personal trainer. Recognizing the opportunities afforded such a diverse background, Tracy blended disciplines together resulting in her Level 3 coaching style.
Tracy has taken gold at UK & Canadian Henley, FISA Worlds, and Head of the Charles. She coached U23 & HP in Texas. Tracy now coaches U23 and HP programs in San Diego, Ca as well as bringing home the first Junior Men’s National Championship in Texas history.

Aimee Wessel started rowing in 1999 for the Dallas Rowing Club and the Hockaday School. She was an NCAA Division I rower for Boston College, and continued rowing for Austin Rowing Club while getting her PhD at UT Austin.
She lived in France for nearly a decade, rowing for CNF, RC-Paris, and Boulogne 92, and returned to the US in 2022, where she rowed for BIAC and East Bay Rowing. Aimee lives in San Diego, where she continues to row and coach.

Meryl began her rowing career at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. She continued to row at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she graduated with Academic All Big Ten honors.
She began her coaching career at East Grand Rapids High School in Michigan while she studied for her teacher credentials. She continued coaching after moving to San Diego in 2012 at SDRC, CCHS, and eventually helped to start programs at Gompers Preparatory Academy and High Tech High Chula Vista.
Off the water, Meryl is a teacher credentialed in English, biology, and physics. She has an MS in child and family development from SDSU.
