After the first year, it's clear that I need to start and finish something quickly, and swiftly send out a message to the companies I have considered to hopefully get a place. The sooner I send emails, the more likely I am to get a spot at some places that are doing work experience.
Also, last year I tried to personalise my emails, but I want to try and make this a general message that I can quickly send to everyone. Although this may look like I'm not putting enough effort in, which I guess I'm not, I also didn't get many responses back, so I'd rather not waste lots of time again this year if I'm not going to get something back.
Work Experience Request - June 2026
Hi there, I hope you are doing well.
I am contacting you to enquire about having a week of work experience with your company, the week beginning June 15th, 2026. This is linked to my Games Design course at Penwith College, where I am attending my second year while I look at going to University. Currently, we use a variety of software to develop multiple skills; however, I am most interested in programming and bringing games together inside Unity.
I have researched many companies within the UK, yours being one that I am very interested in, and hope to be able to learn more about. Not only am I eager to learn, but I also believe that being around people with similar aspirations and workflows will greatly benefit not only my college outcomes but also my entire career. Throughout my first year of college, I achieved the top grade of a Distinction in our final major project, which was a great accomplishment for me.
So far, I've had two jobs, one of which I am still working at during the time I am not at college. They may not be relevant to this industry, but I have picked up multiple skills that are transferable and would make me more ready for a new environment.
Thank you for reading this. You can reach me via email at:

I thought I should probably write another message for the few companies I am trying again, just so it doesn't sound like I forgot about them since last year. It'll mostly be the same, but I'll change something slightly

Since my initial email, I have had no successful placements, so I am writing a short follow-up email to anyone who hasn't yet replied.
Hi, I hope you are well.
I am contacting you again to follow up on my previous email about having a week of work experience, the week beginning June 15th, 2026. Since my original email, I haven't had any luck securing a placement, so I'm hoping you missed my initial contact and still have a place free. Whether you do or don't, I would greatly appreciate any reply.
