Power Grid Modernization Lab (PGML) is seeking highly motivated students with a Master’s degree to join our Ph.D. program and contribute to research in Power Systems, Power Electronics, and Control with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML). Multiple positions are available for students eager to work on cutting-edge research projects in collaboration with a broad network of academic and industry partners. Successful candidates will engage in interdisciplinary research at the intersection of energy systems, controls, optimization, and data-driven intelligence. Positions are available for Spring 2026 and Fall 2026, and applicants currently residing in the United States are preferred.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field
Strong background in Power Systems, Power Electronics, or Control
Hands-on experience in mathematics, AI/ML, or optimization techniques
Ability to conduct independent research and collaborate in a multidisciplinary team
Strong academic record; prior research experience or publications are a plus
