The Ossining Union Free School District seeks partners to support its mission to advance equity of access and opportunities and eliminate barriers to success for children and youth. The Ossining School District is a high-need public school district in Westchester County, NY with a student enrollment of 5,097. Ossining is a vibrant community with an ethnically, racially, culturally and socio-economically diverse population. Many students face challenges including poverty, language barriers and limited access to services and opportunities that encourage healthy development, school readiness, academic success and pathways to higher education and careers. Over 64% of students live in poverty and 10% lack WiFi access. District data point to gaps in the educational attainment and high school graduation rate of students from underrepresented groups.
In response to these needs, the district has created the BELL (Building Equity in Learning Long-term) Equity Fund with a mission to:
be responsive to needs
dismantle inequities
advance programs, practices and policies to help ensure that students have what they need to be successful.
The district seeks partners in service of equity and excellence, prioritizing the three areas to the right. (While initially Access to Technology was also a listed priority, those needs have been met by a grant from the federal Emergency Connectivity Fund.)
How can YOU help transform students’ lives?
Stay tuned. Stay involved.
