How good do I need to be in order to do this program? This program is open to all athletes of all skill levels who are interested in Nordic skiing. We want any athlete that is willing to work hard and be a full participant in practice to join us.
What will we be doing at practice? Workouts will focus on developing skill, form, stamina, endurance, and strength through roller-skiing, running, walking, and strength workouts. Two practices every week will be a long roller ski (1.5-2 hours). One practice will be a strength day which would include activities on roller skis and other strength training such as running or circuit training. The last practice will be focused on developing good ski form.
How do I sign up and pay? $170 for 3 or 4 days a week. $130 for 2 days a week: register at http://www.maplegrovemn.gov/parks-and-recreation/econnect-registration
Where do I get roller skis? Contact one of the coaches for roller skis before the end of school in June.
Please wear comfortable clothes, shoes suitable for running, gloves, and a water bottle. Beginners also may want knee pads to protect when falling on skis.
