Perhance is a platform that allows you to create your own custom random generators. You could use it to create your own random text generator for a tabletop RPG, or to make your own random name generator, or to simply create a generator which selects a random item from your list with different weights. You can also save your generator so it has a permalink that you can share with your friends.

Perchance is based around creating lists which reference other lists. You can adjust the odds of items in each list so that when you randomly select an item from that list, they all have the likelihoods that you've specified. I created Perchance because most people are still creating random generators in excel. Those work all right, but excel and other spreadsheets aren't really made for that purpose, so there's a lot to be desired in terms of functionality and ease of use. Mostly for my own entertainment, I created Miserables and Misfortunates: a web app that generates random level 1 Miseries & Misfortunes characters. It really helped me wrap my head around character creation prior to getting the game to the table. I think it shows off the interesting range of characters possible within this system.

Implemented these changes. Lifepaths are now chosen by checking nobility, latin, and the highest governing ability. Happy to revise based on feedback. Additionally, Rider is now based on Wisdom (after I noticed that the character sheet refers to Horsemanship as a Wisdom-based skill).

I think we could make an assignation heuristic:

Assign a level point to the first skill for which the character has a bonus. Then the first skill on the lifepath, then second, etc. Then a random core skill.

Yeah that's right. Click a dot and the code is updated. The 16x2 only allows 8 custom characters so doing them individually seemed good enough. I had lots of other ideas to enhance it but KISS is working as I focus on the Arduino programming

I played with something similar a few weeks back. First for designing custom characters for 1602 lcds, then later for either 1bit or 16bit images for 16bit tft screens. I can post them if anybody has a use for them.

If you have a close look at the text-preview window, you can see that there are only 7 vertical pixels. A 1602 of course uses character matrices that are 5x8. They also have a 1 cell gap between each row and between each letter within a row.

I have been working on lots of other things since. Given LCD screens are roughly the same price as a HC06 BT module and 99% of Android phones have BT built in, I'm unlikely to ever need LCD screens or LCD custom characters again.

These passwords were all generated back to back with minimum number and special set to 3 and avoiding ambiguous characters. I find it odd that so many passwords can be generated and the overwhelming majority of them always have a duplicate character.

I wonder if it has something to do with the defaults that Unreal renders it in, which could be hidden defaults for human characters. Why would it resize the nose, eyes, and change the hair to a different texture and fineness? The reflectivity is removed, and even appears that it changed the shoulder / neck position. What file type is it exported from CC3 in?

Complaining about the trial version saying that you would probably have to pay $200 to make it work is insane. How much do you think it costs to scan and make a photo realistic character from scratch? Trust me. Way more then $200 just in time and effort then you think.

I agree, but unfortunately Character Creator 3 is the best program for creating characters and has this huge flaw that will not be solved until major developers start throwing stones. What I realize in the PUBG game is that the characters are not so beautiful even with the graphics in ULTRA, probably the game developer had the same problem, giant developers create their characters from the beginning using different software to generate the human body mesh, the geometry and the textures. For an upcoming campaign I'm running there are a TON of npcs that may enter combat, and at least 6 are major characters/villians. (Vivisectionist/internal chemist villian, oracle/psion, alcoholic former monk/barbarian, etc) is there a simple character generator that can do the sheets for me? I've found one that runs in a window and does alchemists, but none that have oracle.. And none that do archtypes..

It is much faster now and the UI is great. The folks who write it frequent the boards here and can help with any questions. The new interface has a nice summary page that tells you exactly what needs to be done to complete the character, like needing to add skills, picking favored class, choosing a feat, etc.

It got much better after I started opening up character files to add in new sources as they came out. I haven't found a way in PCGEN to edit character sources other then modifying the character files.

There's an easy fix for this Tangaroa. Load PCGen, load the sources that you want to be attached with the character, then click on Tools > Preferences > Sources. Uncheck "Autoload Sources with PC". Open your character then save it. All the sources loaded will be selected as sources with that character.
