Hi, my name is Oskar Raplinger, I am originally from and grew up in Denton, Texas, but I was born in Iowa. For my major influences in my life, I would probably say my parents of course, both my mother and my father, and then maybe a friend of my moms who I was friends with through Church groups name Tony, who kind of introduced me to the world of Cybersecurity, which is what he was working in, and made me want to become work in cybersecurity. Other influences in my life would be my German teacher I had throughout highschool, who is probably my favorite teacher I have ever had, and also my algebra 2 teacher in highschool. My intended focus in the school of business is Cybersecurity, but also plan to get a minor in business management. Also I intend to get mostly A's throughout college, im not shooting for a 4.0 but just respectable higher grades. I am also trying to see if I could get a certification for my field, whether it be CompTia Security+ or any of the others. For my career goals, I have a few different jobs in mind, mainly a security analyst or a peneration tester, but overall I just want to work in the general cybersecurity landscape as its what im interested in. Another short to long term goal is to try and get a internship either this summer or one of the breaks I have in school, and also to have a few cybersecurity certifications earned that I can work and apply to jobs with. One challenge I've had in my life would probably be my parents divorce as I was about to head to college, and also some tragedy in the family during 2021. It was a rough year, and I dealt with it by spending time with friends and family, which is kind of what I will do a lot of a the time when I am dealing with challenges. Spending time with other people tends to work the best to help me relax and cheer up.
For my photo I choose this one, which is a picture of my brother and I at a Metallica concert last Fall. This photo is significant to me because it was my first time seeing Metallica, a band I have loved for quite a while, so It was awesome to go to a metal concert of them. And also its significant because I got to bring my brother along for his first metal concert, and he really enjoy it so hopefully I can bring him to another metal concert in the near future.
