TRAP SHOOTING RULES AND REGULATIONS (This is a short list of general safety rules. Please always follow all accepted safety rules and regulations.)
Treat all firearms as if they are loaded.
Always keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction.
Never point your firearm at something you don't want to shoot.
All firearms are to be unloaded and open when moving around.
Firearms should only be loaded and closed when you are at the firing line and it is your turn to shoot.
If there is a trap malfunction, all shooters must open their firearms and remove the shells before anyone goes downrange to work on the trap.
Eye and ear protection are mandatory at the firing line.
If someone is going to enter the trap house, they will place an orange cone on the roof. No firearms are to be loaded as long as the orange cone is being displayed. If the person is going to stay in the trap house to load the trap while the the round continues, he/she will inform the scorekeeper and put the orange cone away after he/she enters the trap house.
NEW SHOOTERS
New shooters are always welcome at Orangeville Sportsmen's Club.
If you are a new shooter, please ask if you have any questions. We keep things pretty simple, but there are some protocols to trap shooting. We would be very happy to show you how we do it and give you all the help you need to enjoy a day at the trap range.
