Help you child prepare for practice by taking these steps:
Dress for the weather, but with a high level of activity in mind.
Hat, gloves, and synthetic socks are a must.
We do not recommend snow suits or heavy parkas!
Kids warm up a lot when they are skiing. They complain of being too hot much more often than they complain of being too cold! Clothing specifically designed for cross country skiing is fantastic, but expensive. Activewear for other sports (spandex tights, synthetic joggers, layered lighter jackets) can be very functional and more affordable.
Make it a routine to pack extra layers, gloves/mittens etc.
Come fed, hydrated, and ready to be active.
We are often away from the lodge for long periods of time, so it is not convenient for kids to grab snacks or drinks during practice.
Arrive 15-20 minutes before the start of practiceÂ
You will need to check in with a coach, pick up gear (if you rent it), and get suited up and ready to go.
The goal is to have the group on snow and ready to go by the start of practice.
