Is the OSCAlums Digital Archive run by OSCA?
No, the Digital Archive was created and is managed by the Archives Group within Oberlin College OSCAlums. OSCAlums is an alumni association formed to collaborate with and support the work of OSCA to ensure its success and longevity. In addition to running the Digital Archive, the Archives Group supervises internships for current OSCA-members interested in maintaining the OSCA Library and developing long-term collection management policies to better preserve OSCA's history.
How do I submit materials to the Digital Archive?
Submissions are uploaded to the OSCAlums Digital Archive Dropbox account and must be accompanied by a gift agreement. Details on how to submit materials are included in our Submission Instructions document. If you have any questions, please contact oscalums.archives@google.com.
Can I submit materials on behalf of a friend or family member?
Yes, as long as the donation is accompanied by a completed gift agreement signed by the donor (your friend or family member). As long as a submission meets that requirement, we have no preference on who uploads the files to the Dropbox.
I have physical materials I'd like to donate to the Archive. Where can I send those?
OSCAlums does not have the ability to accept physical materials at this time, but we can advise on best practices for digitizing those materials. If you have any questions about what to do with OSCA-related materials that you would like to share, please email us at oscalums.archives@gmail.com and we would be happy to discuss different options. Depending on the kind of materials you have, you may consider reaching out to the Oberlin College Archives to see if they are interested in acquiring them.
Where can I see the materials that have been submitted to the Archive?
OSCAlums Digital Archive does not yet have a public-facing website to display the donated materials. As we continue to collect more materials, the OSCAlums Archives Group will develop a digital exhibition website. To stay in the loop about Archive developments and other OSCAlums news, please make sure you are signed up for the OSCAlums newsletter by filling out the OSCAlums Survey and Membership Form.
