If you are passionate about advocating for the profession as a whole then national level advocacy may be right up your alley! Ways to get involved here can include things like giving feedback to ASCA's position statements that are always under development and review or serving on a committee through ASCA, College Board or any of the many other organizations that we work with on a large scale.
Advocacy at the National level can also be a matter of working to improve the way school counselors are portrayed in TV, movies, etc. We are often portrayed as being unsupportive of students or oblivious to their struggles. We can work every day to improve that image and perception by sharing with others the hard work we are doing through social media campaigns, data driven reports and word of mouth.
Be an advocate for the profession by continually striving to create a National Model based program at your school!
