In 2024, Remy Manghum became the first Athletic Counseling Intern at Oral Roberts University. A fellow classmate, Reychelle Lagat, joined the vision and passion to build mental health resources for athletes, stepping into the same role in 2025. For two years, Remy and Reychelle worked to create a safe place with holistic care for the student-athletes of ORU.

February 17, 2025

We hosted our first Hearing From Others panel event featuring special guests Dr. Greg Meyer, Dr. Renee Wilson, Clay Rojas, and MC.

Our panelists shared their experiences balancing faith, athletics, mental health, and life, while graciously answering questions our audience had for them regarding identity, routines, and practical ways to care for one's body, soul, and mind as a person and as an athlete.

October 13, 2025

We hosted our second Hearing From Others panel event, first one for school year 2025-2026, featuring special guests Korey Billbury 2011-2015, Bryce Choate 2017-2021, Dr. Bill Buker 1977-1980, Joel Quashie 2021-2023, and Sierra Beall 2015-2019.

Our panelists shared their experiences as ORU athletes in men's basketball, track, baseball, and men's and women's soccer teams during their time.

March 9, 2026

We hosted our third Hearing From Others panel event, featuring returning special guests Dr. Greg Meyer, Dr. Renee Wilson, and Korey Billbury, additional panelists Dr. Sandra Richardson and Gary Roberts Jr., former athletic counseling intern Remy Manghum, and guest speaker Kenisha Brown-Alexander.

Our guest speakers shared some transitions they faced in sports, college, relationships, and life, and the advice, reflections, and challenges that gave impactful encouragement to all in attendance.
