The Ortigia Cittadinanza Resistente Committee is an independent group of residents fighting to protect the historic centre of Syracuse as a vibrant, inhabited and sustainable place. We defend residents' rights, combat overtourism and illegal activities, and promote legality and social justice. We propose concrete solutions on mobility, waste, liveability and heritage enhancement, with a participatory, cultural approach that is attentive to the identity of the territory.

🌍 We are participating in the iF Social Impact Prize 2025!🌍
We are happy to announce that the Ortigia Cittadinanza Resistente Committee has officially nominated its project for the iF Social Impact Prize, a prestigious international award promoted by iF Design for high social impact initiatives.
📌 Our project addresses the issues of urban sustainability (SDG 11), proposing:
- the regeneration of the former Caritas headquarters to create civic co-housing for young couples,
- a sustainable model of managing tourist flows, networking with local operators.
We chose to bring Ortigia into a global context, demonstrating that it is possible to defend historic centers from overtourism, gentrification and malamovida with concrete, participatory and replicable solutions.
💪 Follow us and help us spread this initiative!l
