PRESIDENT
MELANIE STREI
Melanie and her family are proud and thankful to be members of the Orono community. She is excited to partner with the teachers, staff and parents who work to make our schools remarkable places to learn and grow.
Melanie works as a Marketing professional, but when not at work, enjoys family time away at the cabin, golfing or trying out new restaurants. She’s also always looking for that next good book to read outside in the hammock.
VICE PRESIDENT
MICHAEL KUHLMANN
Michael and his wife Meredith live in Orono with their three kids and one very demanding goldendoodle. This fall, their oldest will be starting 3rd grade, their middle child will be entering 1st grade, and their youngest is excited to begin kindergarten—all at Schumann Elementary. Michael is looking forward to supporting the Orono School community and contributing to the incredible experience the district provides for students, families, and staff.
Michael began his career at Cargill and has spent the past seven years at Target, where he focuses on private label product development. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, providing taxi services to his three kids, and—when possible—getting out on the water.
SECRETARY
CHRISTINA STREY-WELLS
Christina and her husband, Morgan, have called Long Lake home since 2021. They have a fourth grader, a second grader, and a pre-schooler. After volunteering with the PTO for the past three years, Christina is excited to join the board as the Vice Secretary to continue to give back to the educators and staff in the Orono Community who work so hard to give their very best to our students.
After a decade teaching English in the classroom, Christina has taken on managing the lives of her three active and adventurous children along with their trusty dog, Norman. While not volunteering in her kids' classrooms, Christina loves playing with her kids; being outdoors; spending time with family and friends; traveling with her family; and reading all of the books!

Kate is passionate about organizing and color coding, planning family nights and initiatives that bring people together. She counts her lucky stars to have found this one-of-a-kind village. Kate runs on coffee, detailed to-do lists, and the satisfaction of seeing an event come to life from start to finish.
