Library Rules and Practices
The Ormondale Library is a safe and inclusive space for all children. It opens at 8:00 am before school begins for students and families, as well as Snack Recess each weekday and Lunch Recess on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Ormondale Library expects its students to follow the school's 4 BE RULES:
Be Safe
Be Kind
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
CLASS VISITS
Look for the bookmark with the reminder of when the book is due
Class Library Time Procedures:
The class lines up at the door and enters the library quietly. Students take a seat on a letter or shape on our big library rug. A story is read to the class first and then students are able to browse books, read books and then decide on a book to check out.
Calendar
Each class comes in the library for 30 minutes each week.
Sometimes a holiday or minimum day affects the scheduled library time for a class. Mrs. Baxter works with teachers to reschedule missed classes so that all classes come in once a week.
How many books can Ormondale students check out?
Transitional Kindergarten & Kindergarten
1 book at a time
Grade 1
1 book at a time
Grade 2
2 books at a time
Grade 3
3 books at a time
Students return their books every week on the day their class visits the library. If you have lost the book or the book is damaged, please check our LOST BOOK POLICY. We want to make sure every child has a chance to check out a book every week and remembering to return their book will ensure they are able to.
RECESS TIME
The library is a favorite spot during recess for many of our 1st - 3rd graders. Students enjoy coloring bookmarks, creating paper airplanes, building with Legos, playing board games, and of course reading.
1st - 3rd grade students are allowed and encouraged to check books out during this time.
